For JFrog Administrators
This guide will introduce core concepts and necessary first steps to start using your JFrog platform subscription.
See Working with JFrog for an overview of the user interfaces and APIs you use to deploy and manage JFrog.
JFrog Subscriptions
JFrog provides solutions for every stage of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), packaged in several types of platform subscriptions. Some components, services, and features described in JFrog documentation may not be available for all platform subscriptions.
JFrog Deployments: SaaS and Self-Managed Servers
Soon, you will deploy your JFrog subscription on one or more dedicated servers that host JFrog component services. Each server is also known as a JFrog Platform Deployment (JPD).
SaaS deployments use virtual JPDs hosted in the JFrog SaaS Cloud. All JFrog components and services supported by your subscription are available on the SaaS JPD.
Self-managed deployments run on servers in your network environment. To build a JPD you must install and configure JFrog components and services, and configure communication with other servers - so there are additional configuration choices and installation procedures.
Hybrid deployments combine SaaS and self-managed servers. Typically you first deploy the SaaS JPD platform, then add self-hosted servers to the deployment.
