Important Changes
Update to Metadata Cache Retrieval Period
On 1 May 2026, a minimum Metadata Retrieval Cache Period of 30 seconds will be enforced for remote repositories in Artifactory SaaS. This change will provide resource optimization and performance improvements.
To take proactive action ahead of this enforcement, update remote repositories with a Metadata Retrieval Cache Period below the minimum to a value of 30 or over. The 30 second minimum does not apply to smart remote repositories, and they can continue to have a value lower than 30.
For more information, see Cache Settings for Remote Repositories.
- Before upgrading to Artifactory version 7.98.7 and above, see Artifactory Self-Managed Releases. The recent Self-Managed Artifactory versions contain important changes to authentication.
Artifactory Deprecated Features
This topic contains deprecations currently in progress for Artifactory releases. For the full list of ongoing deprecations, see Deprecations in Process . For a full list of deprecated Artifactory feature deprecations, see Artifactory Deprecations.
Composer 1.x Deprecation
As of September 1, 2025, Composer 1.x is deprecated on Packagist. Artifactory will deprecate support for Composer 1.x in December 2026, including version 1.x of the /p API and V1 indexing for local repositories. Upgrade to Composer 2.0 to make sure your repositories continue to work as expected. For more information, see the deprecation notice from Packagist.
Hugging Face Repository Layout Deprecation
As of June 2026, the Hugging Face repository layout will be deprecated. All new local and remote Hugging Face repositories use the new Machine Learning repository layout by default. Any older repositories must be migrated before June 2026 to preserve complete functionality. For more information, see Migrate Legacy Hugging Face Repositories.
CocoaPods Git Indexing Deprecation
Starting July 2025, you will only be able to configure CocoaPods repositories using CocoaPods CDN, and the use of the
cocoapods-artplugin will be deprecated. For more information, see Deprecations in Process.
API Key Deprecation
As notified in Artifactory 7.47.10, API key has reached End of Life at the end of Q4, 2024. We have disabled the ability to create new API keys in Artifactory version 7.98. For more information, see JFrog API Key Deprecation Process.
To ease the migration to reference tokens, which replace API Key, we have shifted the control to you.
- For Cloud users, starting from Artifactory version 7.107.1, the JFrog Platform UI includes a checkbox allowing you to control the API usage deprecation. API Key Deprecation Control
- For Self-Hosted users, you can control the deprecation through your system properties. API Key User Collection for Self-Hosted Customers
Cargo Git Indexing Deprecation
Starting at the end of Q2, 2024, Cargo indexing will only be enabled using Sparse indexing, and the use of Git indexing will be discontinued. For more information, see Deprecations in Process .
Helm Client Relative URL Support as Default (Helm Client V2 End of Life)
From November 1st, 2024, Artifactory will use Helm Relative URL for indexing Helm Chart responses by default.
Since this feature is only supported by Helm clients V3 and above, customers using Helm clients V2 are required to upgrade.
From January 1st, 2025, Artifactory will use Helm client v3 by default, and remove the support for all Helm client versions under 3.0.0.
For more information, see Deprecations in Process.
