Migrator Tool Overview
Nexus Migrator runs on the Nexus host via Docker to migrate repositories, artifacts, users, roles, privileges, and LDAP settings.
The migrator tool uses Docker, installed on the Nexus Repository Manager machine, to facilitate the migration.

The migrator tool runs on the Nexus Repository Manager machine and migrates the following entities from Nexus Repository Manager to Artifactory.
- Repositories
- Artifacts
- Users
- Roles
- Privileges
- LDAP Connections and Groups
Artifactory requires Docker repositories to have names in lower case. The migrator tool renames all docker repositories to lower case when it migrates the repositories to Artifactory.
Migration of Privileges
Roles and Privileges in Nexus Repository Manager are mapped to Groups and Permission Targets in Artifactory. Details of which privilege types are migrated are covered here.
Repositories and Users in Nexus Repository Manager and Artifactory
When there is an existing repository with the same name in Artifactory, artifact migration will fail if the repository is of a different type than the Nexus repository.
