Filestore Balancing for Mount Failure Recovery

Restore shard redundancy after mount repair via automatic balancing sessions triggered after garbage collection runs.

When a mount fails, the actual redundancy in your system is reduced accordingly. Binaries continue to be written to the remaining active mounts. Once the malfunctioning mount is restored, the system rebalances the binaries written to the remaining active mounts to fully restore the configured redundancy.

How Balancing Sessions Work

Depending on how long the mount was inactive, this can involve a significant volume of binaries, which can take considerable time. Because restoring full redundancy is resource-intensive, the balancing operation runs in a series of distinct sessions until complete. These sessions are automatically invoked after a Garbage Collection process runs in the system.
