JFrog Cloud Log Streaming
The JFrog Platform provides standardized logs for all JFrog products and services. JFrog Cloud Log Streaming is a near-real-time log streaming service that allows customers to stream eligible logs from their JFrog Cloud instance.
Important Notes
- JFrog Cloud Log Streaming is only available to subscribers with a JFrog Cloud Enterprise+ subscription.
- Storage cost may be charged by the log vendor for storing and analyzing logs.
- By default, logs are streamed from all of your JPD instances to a single destination. You can also scope log streaming to specific JPDs so that different JPDs stream to different destinations (see Supported Streaming Destinations).
- Log Streaming is not available for Cloud Edge nodes — the
log_streamerentitlement is granted only to full JPD instances under an Enterprise+ subscription, not to Cloud Edge nodes. See Cloud Log Collection, which is supported on Cloud Edge nodes.
Supported Logs
The following logs are supported in the JFrog Cloud Log Streaming:
-
Artifactory Request Logs: Lists all HTTP requests (including gRPC) that were made to the service.
-
Audit Trail Logs (access-audit, access-security-audit): Registers all operations related to users, groups, and permissions to allow auditing and tracking capabilities, which help you enforce security policies in your organization.
-
Artifactory Access Logs: Lists all events related to logins, downloads, browsing, and deployment of artifacts.
Note
The action responses ACCEPTED DOWNLOAD and DENIED DOWNLOAD from Artifactory Access Logs are not logged in SaaS instances due to redundancy with Artifactory Request Logs. Excluding these logs reduces the volume sent to your log analytics platform.
To enable DOWNLOAD action events in the Artifactory Access log, contact JFrog support.
The solution will support additional log sources in the future.
Supported Streaming Destinations
The service can stream logs to the following log analytics platforms:
-
Elastic
The service is similar to an integration that helps customers seamlessly process and analyze their log data from their JFrog Cloud instance. The JFrog Cloud Log Streamer has built-in support for the latest log analytics features from all major log analytics platforms.
You can create multiple log streaming configurations for a single subscription, each scoped to a distinct, non-overlapping set of JPDs and routed to a different log analytics platform. For example, you can stream production JPD logs to Datadog while streaming development JPD logs to Splunk. Each JPD can belong to only one active log streaming configuration at a time.
