Roll Back an Application Version

You can roll back the latest promotion of an application version, including a released version, to its previous stage. This action removes the promotion record, but the audit log will retain a history of the rollback. The behavior of the rollback on the artifacts in the application version depends on the original promotion type:

  • Copy Artifacts: The rollback deletes the artifacts in the current stage's repositories.
  • Move Artifacts: The rollback restores the artifacts to the previous stage’s repositories and deletes the artifacts in the current stage's repositories.
  • Keep Artifacts: The rollback moves the version to the previous stage, but does nothing to the artifacts. Rollback is performed using one of the following methods

If you need to roll back an application version, you can accomplish this in the AppTrust UI using the Actions menu.

To Roll Back an Application Version:

  1. In the JFrog Platform, go to AppTrust > Applications.
  2. In the Applications table, click the name of the relevant application and click Lifecycle. The Stages Board tab is displayed.
  3. In the Stages Board, click the application version to roll back. The Version Timeline opens.
  4. In the upper right, click Actions. Select Rollback Version and confirm the action when prompted.

You can return to the Stages Board and see that the version is now in the previous stage. The rollback action will also appear in the Versions Timeline.
