Distribute an Application Version

Distribute an application version in JFrog AppTrust to matching remote targets, such as Edge nodes, using distribution rules and the JFrog CLI or REST API.

Distribution rules determine which targets receive the version. For example, you can match targets by site name, city, country code, or group, and you can use a wildcard when a rule should include every value for one of those fields. When you need to reach more than one set of targets, you can add more than one rule. You can also set a priority on a rule so that one set of targets is distributed ahead of another.

Prerequisites

  • An application version exists in AppTrust.
  • At least one distribution target, such as an Edge node, is available.
  • You have read and execute permissions on the relevant application version and distribute permission on at least one of the destinations the rules select. If the rules match only destinations you cannot access, those Edge nodes are left out and the request fails with 400.

How to

Distribute an application version with the Distribute Application Version API or with the AppTrust CLI command jf apptrust version-distribute. For the command syntax and examples, see Distribute Application Version CLI.

Delete a Distributed Application Version

You can delete a distributed application version from the remote targets you select. The application version remains available on the source platform. When you want to remove the version from the source platform, use Delete Application Version.

Prerequisites

  • The application version is distributed to at least one remote target.
  • You have delete permissions on the application version and on the relevant remote targets.

How to

Delete a distributed application version with the Remote Delete Application Version API or with the AppTrust CLI command jf apptrust version-delete-remote. For the command syntax and examples, see Delete Remote Application Version CLI.
